About ItGawad Kalinga is a Christian NGO born in Bagong Silang, in Philippines, created by Antonio Meloto in 1995.
The goal is to move 5 million families out of poverty before 2024. To achieve that goal,GK has a development program based on 7 points: -Child and Youth Development -Community Building, to build a team spirit in the villages -Green Kalinga, to protect environment -GK Kalusugan, an health program -Community Infrastructure Program, to build buildings for the beneficiaries -Center For Social Innovation, to develop social business in Gk villages -Bayan Anihan, to permit food-self sufficiency in each community |

In Philippines, more than 25% of the people live below the poverty line, and 17% are undernourished.
This is acknowledged by Tony Meloto in 1995. At that time, he was Filipino business entrepreneur who question himself about inequalities of his country. He took a radical shift in his life : he joined the association Couple of Christ whose project is to help Filipinos to reintegrate themselves into society thanks to sanitaries, educationals and communities actions based on the Christian family values.
This is after the meeting of gang leaders of the greatest slum of Manila, called Babong Silang, the idea came to brought them together in the same neighbourhood. The goal is to restore their dignity by putting their competence to best effect of their new community. This is the first GK Village !
Approaching the issue of poverty from values based on the faith and the family (typical for the Filipinos), Tony earn the trust of the poorest Filipinos. and he is called "Tito" which means "uncle" in tagalog.
Thanks to his listening and his enthusiasm, Tito Tony's project to move 5 million families out of poverty before 2024 is going well.
